Un asombroso legado arquitect\u00f3nico del mundo maya."},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"translation-block\">Si ya has visitado los mundialmente famosos sitios arqueol\u00f3gicos de\u00a0<strong>Tulum<\/strong> y est\u00e1s interesado en aprender m\u00e1s sobre la cultura maya y su arquitectura, la\u00a0<strong>Ruta Puuc<\/strong> es una excelente opci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">La Ruta Puuc se encuentra a una hora en coche al sur de M\u00e9rida por la carretera 261. Es un conjunto de cinco sitios mayas del per\u00edodo Cl\u00e1sico Terminal (800-1000 d. C.), ubicados cerca uno del otro y que comparten un estilo arquitect\u00f3nico, conocido como Estilo Puuc. Estos cinco sitios arqueol\u00f3gicos mayas forman parte de un sitio declarado Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la UNESCO.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">La palabra\u00a0<strong>Puuc<\/strong>\u00a0proviene de la\u00a0palabra\u00a0<strong>maya<\/strong> para colina, que describe la geograf\u00eda \u201cmonta\u00f1osa\u201d de esta zona.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Caracter\u00edsticas de la arquitectura Puuc:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"translation-block\">Fachadas decoradas con mascarones, muchos de ellos representando a <strong>Chaac<\/strong>, el dios maya de la lluvia, con su gran y caracter\u00edstica nariz en forma de prob\u00f3scide.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fachadas ornamentadas, m\u00e1scaras sorprendentes, figuras delicadas y dise\u00f1os intrincados decoran muchos de los edificios.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Muros frontales con jerogl\u00edficos y altos crestones.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Columnas entre entradas y escaleras.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>S\u00f3lidas columnas y densos muros lisos cuyas partes superiores est\u00e1n decoradas con frisos rematados por cornisas planas y grecas.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>B\u00f3vedas ovaladas y de tri\u00e1ngulos truncados.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Esculturas de serpientes en medio y alto relieve.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\"><strong>Chaac, el dios de la lluvia,<\/strong>\u00a0era uno de los m\u00e1s venerados, ya que la zona de la <strong>ruta Puuc<\/strong> no contaba con otras fuentes de agua dulce como r\u00edos, <strong><em>cenotes<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0o lagos. En\u00a0<strong>Uxmal, Sayil y Labn\u00e1,\u00a0<\/strong> los mayas constru\u00edan\u00a0<em>chultunes<\/em>\u00a0o reservorios para contener el agua de lluvia y as\u00ed sobrevivir durante la estaci\u00f3n seca.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">Las\u00a0<strong>ciudades mayas<\/strong>\u00a0que conforman la\u00a0<strong>Ruta Puuc<\/strong>\u00a0son:\u00a0<strong>Uxmal, Kabah, Sayil, Xlapak y Labn\u00e1.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\"><strong>* Uxmal\u00a0<\/strong> tuvo el mayor poder econ\u00f3mico y pol\u00edtico dominando toda la regi\u00f3n. Contaba con un Sak-b\u00e9h (camino de piedra caliza blanca) de 18 kil\u00f3metros de longitud que comunicaba Uxmal con Kabah. Se considera una ciudad maya de primer rango, por la extensi\u00f3n que ocupaba y la magnificencia arquitect\u00f3nica de sus edificaciones. Ten\u00eda una extensi\u00f3n de 4,600 millas cuadradas y una poblaci\u00f3n de unos 20,000 habitantes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\"><strong>Kabah <\/strong>es famosa por su ornamentado templo dedicado a Chaac, el dios de la lluvia de los mayas, cuya fachada est\u00e1 cubierta con repetidas m\u00e1scaras de Chaac. Tambi\u00e9n cuenta con palacios, edificios bajos de piedra y templos con pir\u00e1mides escalonadas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">La zona fue poblada a mediados del siglo III a. C., pero la mayor parte de la arquitectura fue construida entre el siglo VII y el siglo XI. <strong>Kabah<\/strong> fue abandonada siglos antes de que los espa\u00f1oles conquistaran <strong>M\u00e9xico<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\"><strong>* Sayil<\/strong>, su estructura principal se llama \"El Gran Palacio\", con una fachada de 85 metros de largo construida sobre una plataforma de dos terrazas que alberga 90 habitaciones. Su segunda estructura m\u00e1s importante es el templo de \"El Mirador\", entre varios otros palacios y \u00e1reas de juego de pelota.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\"><strong>X-Lapak<\/strong> se encuentra entre Sayil y Labn\u00e1. Cuenta con unos 14 mont\u00edculos, un palacio de nueve habitaciones con fachadas intrincadas y tres pir\u00e1mides. Es un sitio m\u00e1s peque\u00f1o y menos conservado, pero aun as\u00ed merece la pena visitarlo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">*<strong>Labn\u00e1<\/strong> alberg\u00f3 a unas 2000 personas y cuenta con cuatro edificios restaurados: un gran palacio de dos pisos, de unos 120 metros de largo, con un imponente arco de entrada ornamentado. Este famoso arco mide unos 12 metros de ancho y 6 metros de alto.
