C. hasta el 900 d. C., conocido como el Per\u00edodo Cl\u00e1sico, fue su \u00e9poca de auge. Durante ese tiempo, los mayas ten\u00edan un profundo conocimiento de la astronom\u00eda. Tambi\u00e9n pudieron cultivar ma\u00edz, frijoles, calabaza y yuca en lugares a veces inh\u00f3spitos; construyeron ciudades elaboradas, templos monumentales, caminos rectos elevados, acueductos, puentes y pir\u00e1mides sin maquinaria moderna y midieron el tiempo mediante el desarrollo de dos sistemas de calendario altamente sofisticados y precisos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Estos son algunos logros asombrosos de la cultura maya:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Astronom\u00eda<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">Los mayas realizaron observaciones meticulosas de los cuerpos celestes, registrando datos astron\u00f3micos sobre los movimientos del sol, la luna, Venus y las estrellas. Su conocimiento y comprensi\u00f3n de los cuerpos celestes era avanzado para su \u00e9poca e incluso pudieron predecir los eclipses solares. Crearon dos calendarios perfectos, aunque solo hab\u00eda 365 d\u00edas en el a\u00f1o Haab, calcularon que la duraci\u00f3n del a\u00f1o era de 365,2420 d\u00edas, lo cual es m\u00e1s preciso que el valor de 365,2425 utilizado en el calendario gregoriano.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">Incorporaron su comprensi\u00f3n avanzada de la astronom\u00eda en sus templos y otras estructuras religiosas. La pir\u00e1mide de Chich\u00e9n Itz\u00e1 en Yucat\u00e1n fue construida y ubicada de acuerdo con la ubicaci\u00f3n del sol durante los equinoccios de primavera y oto\u00f1o. Inventaron una bebida hecha con granos de cacao machacados, tan valiosos en su \u00e9poca que a menudo se usaban como moneda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">La palabra\u00a0<strong>chocolate<\/strong>\u00a0proviene del vocablo maya\u00a0<em>Xocolatl<\/em>\u00a0que significa \u201cagua amarga\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Matem\u00e1ticas<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">Los mayas desarrollaron un sistema num\u00e9rico perfecto, con solo tres s\u00edmbolos: cero (forma de concha), uno (un punto) y cinco (una barra). Usaban estos s\u00edmbolos para representar n\u00fameros del 0 al 19, los n\u00fameros despu\u00e9s del 19 se escrib\u00edan verticalmente en potencias de 20, usando valores posicionales. Los mayas fueron la primera civilizaci\u00f3n en comprender y usar el concepto de cero en el siglo IV d. C., lo que les permiti\u00f3 tener un sistema de valor posicional adecuado para representar n\u00fameros m\u00e1s grandes y realizar c\u00e1lculos de manera eficiente.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Arquitectura<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">Los mayas construyeron estructuras impresionantes que inclu\u00edan palacios, acr\u00f3polis, pir\u00e1mides y observatorios astron\u00f3micos, caminos elevados y acueductos, combinando sus conocimientos de astronom\u00eda e ingenier\u00eda.
