Tulum is a magical and eclectic destination. Several words are needed to describe Tulum: It is eco-chic, environmentally friendly, bikini boot camp territory, yoga nest, diving paradise, wedding heaven, archaeological icon, a gourmet experience and so much more.

Tulum has its own flavor during the day if you want to relax, exercise, explore archaeological sites, snorkel in sacred sinkholes, meditate or pamper yourself at a Spa.  At night, you will find everything is transformed with a vibrant, upbeat & chilled atmosphere and plenty of options to choose from.

In Tulum you won’t find discotheques and crowds, instead, you will discover small and shabby-chic establishments where to dine, chill and dance under the stars. Bar hopping is an option as many restaurants and bars are walking distance, you can also feel free to wear whatever you want as all dress codes apply.

If you decide to go out and party, you must know there are two options: the downtown area and the hotel zone on the beach, each with their own distinct flavor and atmosphere.

Hotel strip on the beach:

Papaya Playa Project

The most famous spot in Tulum is Papaya Playa Project (PPP). Its located just at the beginning of the hotel strip driving towards the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve and built on a huge stretch of beach. It is known for its delicious restaurant, rustic architecture and for their famous weekend parties, especially for their legendary Saturday full moon parties where models, artists and trendy tourists pack the scene in order to dance to the beat of famous guest DJs from all over the world and resident DJs from Papaya Playa.

Casa Jaguar y Todos Santos

These are an open restaurant and bar, built in the middle of the jungle and are very popular among tourists and locals.

Their eco-minimalistic concept, their travels around Mexico, Europe and Asia have influenced their original recipes with an exquisite fusion of ingredients, textures and flavors. Their emblematic cocktails mix well with the vibrant live band rhythms.

Gitano

Another favorite with locals and tourists alike, Gitano offers signature drinks and cocktails, dinner in a fairy-tale like garden and live music.

Ziggy’s

Ziggy’s offers live music on the beach every evening from 7.30 to 9.30 pm. Each night a different sound: mariachis, acoustic guitar, reggae bands, flamenco, salsa and much more. Check the online seasonal calendar for updates.

DOWNTOWN AREA, better know as “El pueblo”:

 Batey, mojito & guarapo bar

This bar is located in the downtown area on Centauro street. Word has spread: they have the best Mojitos in the world. Outside of the shop and in a repurposed and colorful VW beetle, they serve “Guarapo” a non-alcoholic beverage made from fresh sugarcane juice.

Live bands play upbeat music on a daily basis, from jazz to funk, from blues to reggae or rock, a great time at Batey’s is guaranteed.

Pasito Tun Tun

Located between a reggae bar and a Cuban place, Pasito Tun Tun has specialized in preparing a wide range of creative cocktails with a Mexican delicacy: “Mezcal”. It features live music bands with diverse rhythms and options. Prices are accessible and it offers a fun and laidback atmosphere.

Try these bars and restaurants and enjoy the best nightlife in Tulum.
